MABLETON, Ga. -- Grammy-winning jazz performer Terri Lyne Carrington will host a music master class for students at Pebblebrook High School this week.

The jazz class will begin at 12 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19. It is part of the Jazz in the Classroom program, which is sponsored by the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre's ArtsBridge program and Jazz 91.9 WCLK.

Jazz in the Classroom's goal is to provide young people with an opportunity to learn about music and the way it ties into their everyday lives and possible future careers. Earlier this year, the program sent Al Jarreau to Mays High School in southwest Atlanta.

Terri Lyne Carrington has released five jazz albums and collaborated with numerous notable artists, including Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock and Kevin Eubanks. She is also a professor at Berklee College of Music, her alma mater.

After the master class, Carrington will perform with fellow jazz great Esperanza Spalding at the Cobb Energy Centre. The concert will begin at 8 p.m.; ticket prices start at $26. For more information or to buy tickets, visit cobbenergycentre.com.
