Candlelite Concert Series ends this weekend

MABLETON, Ga. -- The South Cobb Arts Alliance will wrap up its 2013 Candlelite Concert Series with a show from Hot Rod Walt and the Psycho-DeVilles, an Atlanta-based rockabilly group.

The concert will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre. Doors open at 7 p.m. and parking is free.

General seating is also free. Tables for six are available for $50.

Tommy Talton Band to play in Mableton

MABLETON, Ga. -- The next Candlelite Concert in the South Cobb Arts Alliance summer series will be held this weekend and will feature the Tommy Talton Band.

The show will be Saturday, Aug. 17 at 8 p.m. at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.

Senior Idol brings music, comedy, dance to Cobb County

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- For the ninth time, Cobb Senior Idol is being held for all residents in Cobb County. 

On Tuesday, May 7, at the Jennie T. Anderson Theater, there will be an afternoon of entertainment, including music, comedy and dancing, as contestants compete to become the 2013 Cobb Senior Idol. The top five will be chosen by a panel of judges, and the winner will be decided by audience members.

Tickets are $5, available at local senior centers or at the door.

Author to hold book signing at Caribou Coffee

ATLANTA -- A Mableton author will hold a book signing at a local coffeeshop next weekend.

Wayne E. Beyea is the author of The Treasure of Valcour Island. He will sign copies of the book Saturday, Apr. 20 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Caribou Coffee on Northside Parkway in Buckhead.

According to Beyea's publisher, Tate Publishing:

American Idol winner Phillip Phillips to take KSU stage

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Artist Phillip Phillips will be live in concert at KSU Stadium on Sunday, March 24.

Phillip Phillips won the American Idol singing competition in its eleventh season, and released his debut singe "Home" that same year. The song was used as the theme song for the United States women's gymnastics team. 

Phillips released his first album in November 2012.
