'High School Musical' coming to Mable House Amphitheatre

 

MABLETON --  The Theatre Project production of Disney's "High School Musical: On Stage" will be held at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre April 20-22.

The show will run 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 and children 12 and younger are free. VIP tables that seat four are available for $30.

Tickets may be purchased at Mable House Arts Center, 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton, or at the gate the day of the performance. This production is sponsored by the South Cobb Arts Alliance and Cobb Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department.

Braimah’s master classes cost as little as $5 dollars and are part of the ‘DanceAfrica Atlanta Class Series’ produced by GIWAYEN MATA, Atlanta’s all-female dance, percussion and vocal ensemble.

Feb 15, 2011 (Atlanta, GA) – This weekend in Atlanta, Black History Month anticipates the teachings of a world-renowned drum master. Ghana-born djembe and dunun master drummer Weedie Braimah will teach a drum workshop at BNM Studio located 409 Mead Road Decatur, GA 30030.  Joined by New Orleans native  and dancer, Christan Carter, expect to learn how the dance movements correspond with high-energy West Africa drumming techniques.

Mableton - Auditions are upcoming for the Theatre Project's spring production of Disney's High School Musical. Auditions will be held at Mable House Arts Center 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22, and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24. Those interested must attend both days. There will also be a free audition workshop 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17. Mable House is located at 5239 Floyd Road in Mableton. For more information, or to register for auditions, call 770-819-3285.

Cobb County auditions for MLK celebration to be held this week

 

Cobb County - Residents interested in being a part of Cobb's 26th anniversary celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will have the opportunity to audition their performances. Auditions will be held 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, and 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, at Jennie T. Anderson Theatre, Cobb Civic Center, 548 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta. Audition slots are limited, so please RSVP to 770-528-8490. For more information, call the Cobb County NAACP office at 770-425-5757.

The celebration will be held 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, at the Cobb Civic Center. The theme will be "Celebrate: the Life, the Dream, the Legacy" and the event is free and open to the public. It will include the annual presentation of the “Living the Dream” award to a community member who demonstrates the ideals King exemplified.
