Beauty and the Beast performance coming to Mable House

Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr. will be presented by the Theatre Project at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, Nov. 4-6.

The show times are: Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring dinner and enjoy the show with the whole family.

Tickets are $5 and children 12 and younger are free. Tables that seat four are available for $30.

ASO to honor Metro Atlanta music teachers

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will hold an appreciation ceremony for more than 180 Atlanta-area music teachers Friday evening.

The teachers will be recognized at 7 p.m. by ASO president Stanley Romanstein. Afterward, the instructors will attend the evening's concert featuring the music of Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov and Mussorgsky.

ASO cellist Joel Dallow will also receive a special award from Romanstein for his arts education advocacy work throughout Georgia.

Both the 8 p.m. concert and the preceding reception will take place at the Woodruff Arts Center, 1280 Peachtree Street NE, Midtown.

Enjoy North Georgia Fair at Jim Miller Park, Now Open

The 79th annual North Georgia State Fair returns to Jim Miller Park Thursday, Sept. 22,-Sunday, Oct. 2. The fair features live music, free attractions and shows, farm animals, flower shows, blue ribbon competitions, local entertainment and food. There will also be games and rides on one of the largest carnival midways in the country.

A covered area guarantees concerts rain or shine, with appearances by country and contemporary Christian artists. Headlining the free concert series this year are: Colt Ford, Friday, Sept. 23; Josh Kelley, Saturday, Sept. 24; Chris Young, Wednesday, Sept. 28; The Band Perry, Thursday, Sept. 29; Christian artist Big Daddy Weave, Friday, Sept. 30 and Mark Wills, Saturday, Oct. 1. Concerts begin at 8 p.m. and are free with park admission.

As the largest fair in metro Atlanta, it attracts almost 300,000 people every year from north Georgia and surrounding states.

Smooth jazz festival coming to Mable House this Saturday

Tickets are still available for the 2011 Jazz Grooves Atlanta Smooth Music Festival at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre Saturday, Sept. 17.

The event will feature smooth jazz super group Fattburger, Nick Colionne, Jackiem Joyner, Steve Oliver and local saxophonist Jeff Sparks. The gate will open at 12:30 p.m. and the show begins at 1:30 p.m. Lawn seating is $30, reserved seating is $58 or $62 and VIP tables that seat four are available for $85 per seat (must be bought as a complete table).

Two concerts left in free Summer Candlelite Series at the Mable House Amp

South Cobb Arts Alliance is sponsoring the Summer Candlelite Concert Series at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre and Kayla Taylor Jazz will perform Saturday, Sept. 10.

Parking and general admission are free. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Attendees may bring their own food and beverages and concessions will be open. Tables that seat four are available for $50.

The final show of the series will be Blair Crimmins and the Hookers Saturday, Oct. 15. To reserve a table call 770-819-3285.
