New jobs coming to Cobb

Cobb County - PointClear Solutions, Inc., an innovative health-care technology user experience company, joined Cobb County and Cobb Chamber economic development officials to announce the opening of a Cobb County location at 1775 The Exchange in Marietta.

Based in Huntsville, Ala., PointClear Solutions has offices in Nashville, Tenn., Birmingham, Ala., and Atlanta. The Cobb County location brings 10 high-wage jobs over the next two months and up to 75 over the next three years.

“PointClear Solutions is excited to open an office in Atlanta as our business has grown substantially here over the past 18 months and we continue to sign new business,” said David Karabinos, CEO of PointClear Solutions. “We now have a critical mass of clients and employees here and feel that it is time to establish operations here. We selected Atlanta as our next office because it has an extensive Healthcare IT ecosystem, has experienced software development and usability professionals in the market and has a large concentration of prospective clients and partners to work with.  The Healthcare IT and User Experience talent pool here is one of the deepest in the country.”

Currently, the Atlanta office houses 10 employees. PointClear’s expansion into Cobb, clearly defines the metro Atlanta area as a health IT hub. The health-care software technology firm has prestigious roster of clients including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, McKesson, Greenway Medical Technologies, ShareCare and SeeMyRadiology.

"The addition of PointClear in Cobb County is incredible for our community and for all of metro Atlanta.  IT and health-care related jobs create high wages and are the types of employment opportunities that we want to create for our citizens," said Brooks Mathis, vice president of Economic Development with the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.

“Georgia works in aggressive ways to be sure health IT companies in our state can continue to compete and innovate here and in global markets,” said Carol Henderson, director of Health Sciences and Advance Technologies, Georgia Department of Economic Development. “By locating in metro Atlanta, PointClear Solutions can fully leverage Georgia’s progressive business environment as well as the state’s industry-leading health IT infrastructure.”

County has proven to be an attractive destination for the health care and IT industries. The Cobb’s Competitive EDGE (Economic Development for a Growing Economy), a game-changing economic development initiative led by the Cobb Chamber and its community partners, has identified four core cluster economic development industry targets.

The PointClear Solutions expansion represents a targeted segment of two industry targets—health care services and information technology and software. One of the goals of the initiative is to build stronger programs to help existing companies to continue to grow and prosper. In 2011, the Cobb Chamber reported 26 major relocations and expansions, 3,093 new jobs and $248 million in new investments.

Job announcements could not happen without the Cobb Chamber’s strategic partnerships between the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Cumberland Community Improvement District and Cobb County leadership

"It is no surprise that Health Care and IT are two target areas in Cobb's Competitive EDGE strategy, an energized economic development initiative to drive high wage jobs and investment in Cobb County,” said Mathis. “The many assets of Cobb County create an environment for companies such as PointClear to thrive and be successful."
