MABLETON, Ga. -- Cobb County Police have arrested an 18-year-old Atlanta man for shooting and killing another man at an apartment complex.

The shooting happened at around 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Mableton Reserve apartments on Mableton Parkway.

Responding officers found 41-year-old Ricardo Reese dead from several gunshot wounds, lying just inside the back door of one of the units.

Witnesses gave police a description of the suspect, which allowed officers to catch him within minutes of the shooting and identify him as Darius Dionne Oliver, according to Cobb County Police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce.

Oliver is being held without bond in the Cobb County Detention Center on charges of murder, aggravated assault, burglary and firearm possession.

Henry County- Violence against women is on the agenda of the Henry County Police Department.  The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved acceptance of a 25 percent matching grant in the amount of $246,833 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to be used by the Henry County Police Department for its Stop Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) program. The action came at the regular board meeting earlier this month.

MABLETON, Ga. -- Cobb County Police are working to identify the suspects in a recent case of armed robbery and aggravated assault.

The incident occurred at around 8 p.m. Tuesday at a house on Collins Lake Way near Fontaine Road.

The homeowner told police that "four to five black men" forced their way inside the home. Some of the suspects held the people inside the house at gunpoint, while their accomplices "ransacked" the residence, taking cash and "several items of value," according to Cobb County Police spokesman Mike Bowman. No one was injured.

MABLETON, Ga. -- A Mableton man has been sentenced in federal court for filing false income tax returns.

According to information presented in court, 43-year-old Rahman Hill was one of four suspects who preyed upon inmates and homeless people, using their personal information to collect more than a million dollars from the U.S. government.

The other three members of the conspiracy -- 36-year-old Kelcey Pierre Miller of Atlanta, 40-year-old Keith Lamone Richard of Decatur and 42-year-old Peter Raymond Williams of Newark, N.J. -- have already been sentenced.

U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said the four defendants filed 123 fraudulent returns between December 2005 and March 2007. The refunds were deposited into bank accounts controlled by Hill and Miller.

Hill was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. He must also pay nearly $1.7 million in restitution.

MABLETON, Ga. -- Cobb County Police are searching for a woman accused of robbing a Mableton cell phone store on Halloween.

The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. Monday at the Metro PCS store on the East West Connector.

Witnesses said the suspect asked an employee a question about her account with the company. When the employee could not find her phone number in the store system, the woman pulled out a semi-automatic pistol and demanded money. She received cash and ran from the store, police said.

The suspect is described as a black woman, about 5-feet-9-inches tall and with a large build. During the robbery, she wore a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a white belt with black skulls on it.

Police seek suspect in Kroger bank robbery

MABLETON, Ga. -- Cobb County Police are looking for the man accused of robbing a Mableton bank.

The incident happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. at a Best Bank inside the Kroger on 4875 Floyd Road.

Investigators said a man presented a demand note and, after receiving cash, left the store in a light-colored car.

Witnessed described the suspect as a black man in his late 30s or early 40s. He was wearing a white button-down shirt, dark blazer, glasses and tan Kangol wool hat during the robbery; security cameras at the bank captured images of him.
