COBB | County may ban smoking in parks | News

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Cobb County is considering a ban on smoking and tobacco use in all of its 77 parks and recreation areas.

The proposal is still in its early stages. But if it is adopted, Cobb County would join a growing list of Georgia jurisdictions outlawing a once common practice.

The county's indoor park areas are already tobacco-free but the new designation would add outdoor areas to the list.

The ordinance would first have to be approved by the county commission, and there will be an opportunity for public comment before it reaches a vote.
