ATLANTA -- Authorities say the president of the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce has been arrested after he carried a firearm into an unauthorized area of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
A local paper is reporting that David Wilson Connell was caught with a handgun inside of his carry-on briefcase before he boarded an airplane Wednesday morning.
The Cobb Chamber says Connell arrived at the airport to board a flight for a business trip.
Chamber spokeswoman Amy Shelby says Connell "inadvertently" took the wrong briefcase to the airport.
Connell was taken to the Clayton County Jail. His attorney Michael Maloof says bond was set for his client and expects Connell to be released later in the day.
Connell became president of the 5,400-member Cobb chamber in November 2010.
