Title (Max 100 Charaters)
MABLETON, Ga. -- Slick roads appear to have played a role in at least one of two deadly crashes overnight in Mableton.
RELATED | Icy patches reported on I-85, 10 loop
The first happened at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday near Pebblebrook High School.
Cobb County Police Officer Mike Bowman said 18-year-old Eric R. Lynch was heading south on Pisgah Road "at a high rate of speed" when he lost control of his 1993 Honda Civic on wet pavement. The Mableton teen hit a utility pole near Boggs Road and was ejected from the car. He wasn't wearing a seat belt and was later pronounced dead at Grady Hospital.
The second crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. at Oglesby Road and Five Oaks Place. Officer Bowman said 27-year-old David W. Jones of Powder Springs ran his 2001 Ford F-150 off the road into several trees. He wasn't wearing a seat belt either and died on the scene. Alcohol is being considered as a factor in the accident.
Neither driver had any passengers.
Anyone who any information on either wreck is asked to call Cobb County Police at (770) 499-3987.
