Over the course of your life, the chances of being the victim of a crime are at least one in three, higher if you live in a large city, and higher still if you’re a woman. The criminal’s objective is to maximize gain and minimize risk, and he’ll usually pick the easiest target with the most to offer. Given these odds, it pays to take precautions by following some basic safety rules:

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- The Cobb County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for its Next Generation Mentoring Program.

The program is designed to build relationships between current and future business leaders in the county. Mentors will provide professionals in their 20's and 30's with the skills they need to grow their careers and achieve their business goals.

Applications must be submitted no later than Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Organized to promote excellence and professionalism among Family Law practitioners in Cobb County, the section also fosters collegiality between judges and attorneys, which extends to courtrooms and mediation sessions.

ATLANTA -- Morgan Stanley announced today that Jim Hansberger, Managing Director, Financial Advisor, in the Firm’s Atlanta Wealth Management office, has been named to Barron’s list of America’s Top 1,200 Advisors: 2014 State-by-State.

The “Barron’s Top 1,200 Advisors” is a select group of individuals who are screened on a number of criteria. Among factors the survey takes into consideration are assets under management, revenue produced for the Firm and quality of service provided to clients.

Tim Lee is Cobb Citizen of the Year after clinching Braves

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Cobb County Chairman Tim Lee, who quietly negotiated the Atlanta Braves' move to Cobb, is the Cobb Chamber of Commerce's Citizen of the Year.

Lee was surprised with the award on Saturday at the Chamber's 72nd Annual Dinner.

The Braves said Nov. 11 the team would move to Cobb. County commissioners voted Nov. 26 to give the team $300 million in public funding for a new $672 million stadium.
