ATLANTA – Whether it’s after a hard day of work or at the beginning of a long night of partying, everyone loves a cheap brew. Around Atlanta there are plenty of places to get a cold, cheap pilsner full-o-ale however, the Where U Live has compiled a list of the places we think you would like.
Put a quarter in the old jukebox and relax at the, refurbished, Ponce de Leon mainstay dive restaurant. The Local also offers cheap pitchers and amazing wings. The restaurant has fourteen beers on tap, including: Hoegaarden, Pabsts Blue Ribbon, Fat Tire and Loose Cannon. All beers are served in pint glasses, the cheapest being their PBR for $2.75; they, also, offer bottles of Miller Highlife for $2.50. The Local is located at 758 Ponce De Leon Avenue in Atlanta.
It has one of the better patios in the Atlanta area and it only holds about ten people. Popular Virginia Highland tavern, Moe’s and Joe’s offers the cheapest beer around. The taverns offers more than 30 beer varieties and most of them are priced under $5 per glass; they also feature $6.50 pitchers of Pabst’s Blue Ribbon, daily. They have a pretty expansive beer list but the food is, reportedly, underwhelming. With almost 100 beers listed on their menu, The Thinking Man Tavern is a pretty popular watering hole in Downtown Decatur. The restaurant hosts a Dart League on Mondays and Trivia on Tuesdays. Come out for a good time and some cool craft ales. The restaurant is located at 537 West Howard Avenue in Decatur.
If $1 beer sounds appealing, make your way down to Jack’s Pizza and Wings. The “Old 4th Ward” draft, or Miller High Life, costs $1 per pint and $4 per pitcher and they, also, offer about thirty more types of draft and bottled beer. Along with their infamous Soulfood Pizza, the restaurant boats over 15 types of handcrafted pizzas; they have something for everyone. The restaurant is located at 676 Highland Avenue in Atlanta.
Atlanta’s Home of the Blues, the Northside Tavern on the Westside is also home to cheap beers and a good time. The restaurant located at 1058 Howell Mill Road in the Westside is the type of place you can go to take a load off and have a “good ‘ol time” with a bottle of beer and the blues.
Hangout with the family at popular gay bar, Woofs, on Piedmont Avenue. The bar broadcasts MLB, NFL and college football games, everyday. The restaurant features draft, imports, domestics and malt beverages; and they’re all pretty cheap. Woofs serves great food from open to 10PM every day and plays host to pool, darts and video games.
Corner Tavern comes alive at night; however, it’s pretty amazing during the day, also. The restaurant has 14 microbrews on tap. Also, the restaurant offers their cheapest beer, the Genesee Cream Ale at $2.50 per can. The restaurant is located at 464 Edgewood Avenue in Atlanta.
A trusted name in Atlanta, Johnny’s Pizza is also a great spot for cheap beers. The restaurant is famous for their $1 cans of PBR however; they also offer pitches of domestic, imported and premium beer for moderate prices. The restaurant is located at 1808 Cheshire Bridge Road in Atlanta.
