Sign up deadline for Cobb Tennis League is 10/17

The Cobb Tennis League is a league where you compete against other players of similar ability. The league is for adult tennis players, with ability levels ranging from NTRP 2.0-5.0.

The 2.0 level is a great opportunity for players who consider themselves 'true beginners' and are experiencing league tennis for the first time. Players register individually and are matched against other players at their ability level. This is a flex league where you play when it is convenient for you and you can play anywhere in Cobb County where there are tennis courts (parks, clubs, or subdivisions).

There are two seasons each year, a spring season and fall season. The fall season begins October 24th. The Cobb Tennis League is a great way to enjoy fun competition and to meet new people!!! Registration for the fall league is currently in progress. The entry deadline is October 17th.

LOCAL PROFILE: NFL Linebacker Rennie Curran

LILBURN -- Former Brookwood High School football standout, Rennie Curran is patiently waiting for a new jersey. Over the past two years, Curran went from the University of Georgia to LP Field in Nashville and now he's back at home.

Curran was released shortly after this year's NFL pre-season, despite leading the team in tackles during the pre-season.

Since being cut, Curran has been training at Catalyst and other gyms to ensure that when he does get a call, he wont miss a step. Curran is pretty confident he'll be wearing someone's jersey soon.

Subway celebrates 500th Metro Atlanta store

ATLANTA -- With the arrival of several new stores this month, Subway celebrates the opening of more than 500 stores in Metro Atlanta since its first location in 1977.

This milestone is a testament to the Subway brand and the franchisees who have made it so successful in the Atlanta area -- not to mention the world, as Subway is the planet's largest restaurant chain with over 34,000 locations.

"We continue to offer a dining experience that meets the changing tastes and needs of our loyal patrons, so it is no surprise to see this important achievement," said Christi Estis, director of operations for Subway Development of Atlanta. "We could not have reached this milestone without the dedication of our model franchisees and employees.
